Cine Magnetics Graphics & Printing Specifications
Cine Magnetics has a Macintosh based electronic pre-press / graphics department.
Electronic files can be provided on a 3.5" floppy disk, 100MB or 250MB ZIP disk, CD-ROM, or e-mail/ftp transfer.
ALL OTHER MEDIUMS WILL NOT BE UTILIZED
ALL electronic files for print must be prepared with the following procedures:
Provide your artwork in
- Illustrator (.ai, .eps)
- Photoshop (.psd, .eps, .tif)
- Quark (.qxd),
- Portable Document FIle (.pdf)
- or a combination of these files (include the file extensions at the end of your file name). You may supply a .PDF file ONLY if it is PRINT READY
(Any format other than these will have to be converted to our work standards and will require more time and possibly more prep charges.)
- To ensure proper final output, please use Cine Magnetics' templates (downloadable on our website www.cinemagnetics.com) and include the template in your collected files . If you do not see the template you need, please contact your salesman or client service representative
- Create artwork with a minimum 1/8" bleed around all edges and try to keep any text or vital information 1/8" from the edge of the document. Include crop marks for additional insurance.
- If your artwork is printing 4 color process - be sure your files are in CMYK format (NOT RGB)
- If your artwork is printing in spot colors (USE ONLY PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM), be sure to identify how many colors are being used and the PMS name/number of each.
- Be sure all collected images are 300 dpi and all screen and printer fonts are included (or create outlines where applicable)
- Include a B/W or color printed composite or JPEG/PDF file of the piece
For CD silkscreen artwork (same as above plus the following):
- For any 4 color process artwork, an additional white background is recommended to ensure desired output. Just note "flood white" on your file.
- Do NOT include any halftones less than 15% (very light colors will not reproduce on CD like they will on paper). Also note that any halftone at 90% will reproduce at 100%.
- Minimum of 6 point font size
Film Output:
- Film will only be accepted for CD, DVD, or Video packaging (NOT labels or silkscreen)
- We highly recommend that you provide us with an electronic file, but if you do decide to provide us with film, follow the electronic file procedures listed above to prepare your document and use the following specifications to make film:
- 150 Line screen
- Emulsion side down
- Right reading
- Film negatives
- With color matchprint (we will not use film if a matchprint is not included)
**If these procedures and/or specifications are not met, new film will have to be made at your expense
NOTE: Different printing methods create different outcomes, so please keep in mind the following (the higher the line screen, the finer the detail):
